Boston’s Biggest Rapper of Hard Hip Hop Beats Born in Boston in 1988, the hip-hop artist GRAMZ has been filling mid-size venues in Massachusetts and throughout the East coast since he first burst onto the scene in 2005. His eagerly anticipated first album called "The Campaign" debuted in July, 2015. We now look forward to his upcoming project 'IGNORANT BLISS' set to release Summer 2016.
With his father a composer and singer in the Motown tradition, GRAMZ credits him for laying the foundation of his musical talents. Later Big L became a major influence, with his lyrics far ahead of its time. “My style is a blend of hard beats and even harder lyrics,” says GRAMZ. “It’s a combination of trap music with an East Coast feel.” “When I first started rappin’, my music and lyrics were mostly about punchlines and metaphors,” says GRAMZ. “Now it’s more focused on being listened to. I want listeners to understand the lyrics. And the beat is often structured to encourage folks to groove to the song and still say, ‘damn, this dude got it!'.
Much of the inspirations for GRAMZ’s lyrics result from his troubled background. “I could easily have ended up dead or in jail had I continued along the same ruinous path,” says GRAMZ. “So to keep from returning to my previous detrimental lifestyle, I keep pushing myself to compose and perform quality music. It inspires me to work continually.”
